Pennsylvania DECA members are committed to helping and improving the communities in which they live. Each year the State Officers select one charitable organization to be the “State Charity”, and many of the PA DECA charitable efforts for that year benefit the selected organization.
This year, Pennsylvania DECA is proud to partner with Lauren's First and Goal as the 2018-2019 State Charity!
About Lauren's First and Goal
Lauren's First and Goal is a 501(c)3 charitable organization, a labor of love started in 2004 by John and Marianne Loose in honor of their daughter, Lauren, a pediatric brain tumor survivor. The Loose family started the foundation as a way to help other families who are battling childhood cancer.
Since its inception, LFG has raised more than $2.1 million toward its mission to provide financial support for brain tumor research and cancer services, to offer financial and emotional support to families living with pediatric cancer, and to increase awareness of the disease. These goals are made possible through the funding gained through LFG Football Camp and charitable contributions.
This year, Pennsylvania DECA will help donate to the success of this amazing foundation! Some of the ways we are going to get involved include:
- Miracle Minute at the State Conference and at select district conferences
- Basket Raffles at the State Conference and at select district conferences
- Finalist T-Shirts at the State Conference and at select district conferences
We also encourage you to develop unique and exciting fundraisers that can be held in your own chapter. Keep in mind that raising money for our State Charity can help you to receive some cool recognition in our Pennsylvania DECA Plan of Action!
Our goal for Pennsylvania DECA this year is to raise over $14,000 for Lauren's First and Goal, which will surpass any amount ever raised for charity in Pennsylvania DECA history! But we can only do this with your help, so please join us in the fight to end childhood cancer!
