Aspire Higher: Reaching for New Heights with Pennsylvania DECA

REWARDS PROGRAM

Pinnacle Level:
If the chapter completes 8 of 16 goals, the chapter will receive a framed certificate and recognition at the State CDC.
(You must complete 2 goals from each section and raise funds for MDA)

Peak Level:
If the chapter completes 12 out of 16 goals, the chapter will receive a framed certificate, congratulatory medallions for each member of the chapter, and recognition at the State CDC.
(You must complete 2 goals from each section and raise funds for Autism Speaks)

Summit Level:
If the chapter completes all 16 goals, the chapter will receive a framed certificate, congratulatory medallions for each member of the chapter, and a special surprise reward upon arrival at the SCDC, along with chapter recognition.


**The top vocational and high school chapters who raise the most money for MDA will be awarded premium seating for the entirety of the State Conference.**

Program of Work is due to Stephanie Ou by January 27, 2012.

 

OBJECTIVES

Each DECA chapter must complete at least 2 goals from each Section.

ACADEMICALLY PREPARED:

Deca members are ambitious, high-achieving leaders equipped to conquer the challenges of their aspirations.

  1. Alumni/ Local Business/ Educator Presentation
    Invite a representative to come speak to a selected group of DECA members or business students. The speaker will discuss marketing careers, institutions of higher education, and the importance of DECA.
  2. Job Shadowing
    One or more chapter representative(s) must attend a job shadow. The representative must come back and share what they have learned with the rest of chapter.
  3. Create a DECA Scholarship
    Create funds to give to one or more students an annual scholarship with a value of a least $ 100.00 for the use of either DECA trips or college.
  4. Organized Study Session
    Within the chapter, schedule additional time for the DECA members to prepare for competition. Minimum of three sessions required over any period of time.

 

Community Oriented:

Recognizing the benefit of service and responsibility to the community, DECA members continually impact and improve their local and broader communities.

  1. Invitation to DECA event
    Invite a school official to attend either the district conference or another DECA event hosted by your school.
  2. Community Service Project
    At least 20% of your members to participate in at least one community service for a total of two hours. Chapter can distribute their community service as long as total participants accumulate to 20%.
  3. Host a DECA activity
    Hold a social event to help increase community-wide awareness, recruit members, or raise funds for your DECA chapter.
  4. Spreading DECA to other high schools
    Prepare and present information about DECA to schools in your area that do not currently have DECA chapters so to encourage them to join.

 

Professionally Responsible:

DECA members are poised professionals with ethics, integrity, and high standards.

  1. Create a Code of Ethics and Mission Statement
    Draft and design an official document stating the chapter’s purpose, goals, and standards for the upcoming year and display it for all members to be reminded of chapter objectives.
  2. Business Partnership
    Reach out to local businesses or sponsors that may be interested in partaking in a DECA conference as a judge or serve as a business partner to PA DECA/DECA Chapter.
  3. Advertising For DECA
    Have your DECA chapter create a promotional video or display to be shown throughout the school (ie. Through morning announcements).
  4. Raise Funds for MDA (as a part of the MOVEMENT)*
    Your chapter must raise $100 or more to complete this goal. However, all donations are appreciated no matter the quantity.

Experienced Leaders:

DECA members are empowered through experience to provide effective leadership through goal setting, consensus building and project implementation.

  1. Reach out to Parents
    Spread knowledge of DECA through activities such as presentation at a PTA meeting, send flyers home, meet the teacher night. (open house)
  2. Increase Membership
    Because membership is so important to DECA, have your chapter maintain 100% membership or increase membership by 5% or 10 people.
  3. Administration Presentation
    give a presentation to your school’s principal, school board, superintendent, teachers, or other school officials about DECA’s activities, and how it has a positive impact on the school.
  4. School Presentation
    Your chapter must give at least one presentation to a middle school which filters to your chapter or to another high school without DECA.
