Over 50 years ago, the Distributive Education Clubs of America was organized to improve educational and career opportunities for students. Today, Distributive Education is referred to as Marketing Education, but the "DECA" acronym lives on as being synonymous with helping students develop entrepreneurial / marketing skills, building self esteem, promoting civic consciousness and creating leaders.
- DECA is ... an Association of Marketing Students.
- DECA is not ... just a club, but an integral part of the business / marketing education curriculum. DECA is co-curricular.
- DECA members ... learn the "soft skills" so many employers are looking for in their employees.
- DECA members ... possess marketable skills upon graduation.
- DECA's... competitive events program puts marketing and business theories into practice in real or simulated business situations. DECA builds confidence and self esteem by recognizing success on the local, district, state, and national levels.
- DECA members ... represent a dynamic force in the business world: the combined power of knowledge and enthusiasm.
| "Marketing Education enables students to acquire broad understanding of skills in marketing so that they can transfer skills and knowledge between and among industries." |
