Raising the Fundraiser standard for MDA.

Raising the Bar

The Movement is an international fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in which all of DECA can participate. This project has been organized by former Oklahoma State Officer, Jay Koontz, and National Officer Team 66. The ultimate goal of The Movement is to raise the bar in terms of what the world thinks students can accomplish. We will reach this goal by having DECA chapters collectively raise $1,000,000 for MDA in one school year. However, in order to accomplish a task of this magnitude, groundwork must be laid. Therefore, the project is being “piloted” during the 2011-2012 school year. The overall goal for 2011-2012 is for DECA chapters to collectively raise $100,000 more for MDA than they did last year. The strategy to accomplish this goal is to bring your chapter into a group of 200+ that will unite to each raise $500 more than they did the previous year.

Your Challenge

To be a part of The Movement, your challenge is simple: raise $500 more for MDA than you did last year. If your chapter did not raise money for MDA last year, you are encouraged to set a goal of raising a minimum of $500. If your chapter has been successful at fundraising, you are encouraged to “Aspire Higher” and set your sights on raising more than the additional $500.
