The teacher-coordinators in Pennsylvania organized Pennsylvania DECA chapters in 1952. In 1960 Pennsylvania DECA was formally chartered as a member of National DECA. Mr. Charles Steadman, teacher-educator at the University of Pittsburgh, accepted the charter on behalf of Mr. Kenneth Pfeiffer, State Supervisor of Distributive Education in Pennsylvania. By 1999 there were 72 DECA Chapters in Pennsylvania with a total membership of over 3,000.
